Edge Magazine

ALIEN:Isolation is featured in February's Edge Magazine.
There's a couple of small shots of the costume designs I created
with heavy reference to the classic work of Moebius and John Mollo.


(Without John Mollo we'd still be designing spacefarers wearing spandex).

There's a couple of early character concepts (from 2011) in there (around 0.37 and 1.30). I can hopefully share the actual images soon. I had a cracking time working on this with a great team. Looking forward to the release!

Batman Blackgate Concepts

In 2014 I will be returning to the warm bossom of fulltime work. Freelance has been
a great experience and I've met and worked with some brilliant people.
As a thanks to all for your continued support during the year here are some concepts for Batman Blackgate.

This first material render of Bronze Tiger was painted in Sketchbook Pro,
with grading and photo-texture overlays applied in Photoshop. The face is probably pretty much a photo :/


 These were the original color roughs to decide on the above pose.


 Various character sketches for the handheld version, Joker gang, Penguin gang etc.

Batman Blackgate Cinematics

Here's a selection of the cinematic work I created for Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate.
These were all generated in Sketchbook Pro, then each element grouped up
to be later animated and given some much needed VOOOM by the
good folk at Armature studio.
Posted here working size.

































In game these have been described as cool as well as undynamic and cheap and ugly.
Ah well.
I guess I shouldn't bother with reviews,they only make me question my choices.
All 350 frames of them.


I'll post up a couple of the concepts soon.

Batman

Okay, so the trailer's out:


I've been working with Armature Studios on this for roughly a year, a little concepting and some storyboarding game scenarios. But mainly creating about 350 in-game cinematic frames. The Art Director, Todd Keller has been fantastic to work for and with on these. He's done the the lions share of the work, turning my simple layered files into these dramatic cutscenes which are glimpsed here.
The game of course, is going to rock.
I'll post more when I can.
